About me

Hi my name is Scott. I live in Bishop's Stortford, and I own and run Scottie's Dogs.

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love animals.  My friends often laugh at me for being such a softy when it comes to animals. Especially when they see me squashed up against the arm rest while my cat lay spread-eagled across the sofa; or when I try to engage animals in conversation as if I’m Dr. Dolittle.

My love of dogs

I’ve always loved animals, but dogs were always my favourite. I grew up surrounded by dogs, so I have always been comfortable and happy around them.  Having spent many years of my life working from home, I was able to work from anywhere I wanted - as long as there was an internet connection. Being based at home meant it was fantastic for my family and friends, as I became their dog sitter and looked after their dogs while they were at work or I  became their dog walker.  For me, it was a real pleasure spending time with their dogs. When my nearest and dearest went on holiday, I was able to up sticks and move in to their home to dog sit for them there too. Knowing I’m a trustworthy and responsible person, they not only knew that their dogs would be loved and cared for, but they also knew I would take good care of their home for them also while they were away.

My love of cats

My love for cats came at a much later stage in my life. I’ve always liked cats, but I never considered myself to be a cat person. Not having a cat growing up, I never had the same level of affection for them as I did with dogs.  That was until my brother brought Bella home to live with us. Having Bella I discovered that cats have such great personalities and can be so loving and affectionate. We find her absolutely hilarious, and she has completely stolen our hearts. She brings such joy to our home, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.  It’s because of Bella that I became a huge cat lover.  Bella would rather I not be of course. She is very unimpressed that I've made friends with all the neighbourhood cats, especially when she sees them trying to sneak into our home through her cat flap. Before setting up Scottie's Dogs, I regularly acted as the go to cat sitter to my family and friends. 

About Scottie's Dogs

Scottie's Dogs has been an organic process. I’d always been a big animal and nature lover, but my other big passion was travel.  I worked most of my life in the travel industry, and I enjoyed it very much.  However, the travel business is very volatile and unfortunately, I was made redundant.  Outside of seeking new employment, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands.  Knowing that I’m great with their pets and have plenty of free time, my family and friends asked me to be their dog walker or cat sitter on a more regular basis while they were at work.  Soon enough, their friends contacted me, and I ended up walking their dogs or cat sitting for them also. On my walks dogs, I would become friends with other dog walkers and sometimes get asked to care for their dogs and pets too.  Things gradually began to build.  There appeared to be a real need in the local area for what I was doing, and I was loving doing it.  Therefore, I decided to pursue it professionally and create my own business, Scottie’s Dogs. 

As a lifelong pet owner and passionate animal lover myself, I can assure you that your beloved pets are in safe and caring hands. Understanding how much you love them, I provide a dependable and caring service for all your dog walking, cat sitting and in-home pet sitting and dog sitting.  I am fully insured, Criminal Records checked and qualified in canine first aid.

I am based in Bishop's Stortford but I also provide my services to pet owners in surrounding villages.  I currently have clients in Stansted, Furneux Pelham, Albury and Much Hadham. Click here to see a full list of the places I can visit.
